( A series of paintings depicting the neural output of Nietzsche's Übermensch)

At the end of 2018, I did a short series of paintings that depicted the neural output and geometry of thought in modern humans. While they are interesting in their own right, they were created specifically to act as a reference to allow me to describe and allow the viewer to understand the expanded thought and neural capacity of Nietzsche's Übermensch.

The Ubermensch does not just represent the next evolution of man; he is cogniscent of man's place in the world and the absence of god. The advanced thought of the Ubermensch has no need for the trappings of religion and its promise of the afterworld. This advanced being is comfortable and understanding of the world we exist in.

I imagined that to allow for the extra thought capacity of the Ubermensch, it would require an elongated cerebrum, allowing for a larger brain and thought capacity.

Key Characteristics and Philosophy

  • Life-Affirming: They possess a "strong will" and accept life in its entirety, including the "Eternal Return"—the ability to live, and want to live, the same life over and over again.

  • Transcending Herd Morality: The Übermensch rejects absolute, universal rules (like those from Christian theology or conformist society) in favor of personal excellence.

  • Self-Overcoming: The Übermensch is not a physical evolution (like comic book heroes), but a spiritual and psychological state achieved by transcending one's limitations, mastering oneself, and creating personal values.

  • Meaning Creator: In a world without traditional divine meaning (post "Death of God"), the Übermensch creates their own meaning and purpose
